Expert recommendation: Ukunda or Mombasa?
For most Diani hotels, we recommend flying straight into Ukunda (Diani Airport). It's minutes from the Diani strip, Galu and Kinondo, and is served by Jambojet, Kenya Airways and Safarilink from Nairobi.
Fly into Mombasa (MBA) when you're arriving internationally, or staying in Tiwi or north of the ferry. Moi International has far more flights, including direct routes to the Gulf, Ethiopia, Türkiye and Germany.
Allow for the road: Mombasa to Diani takes 30 to 45 minutes via the Likoni Ferry or the Dongo Kundu bypass, and longer when ferry queues build up.

Flying a safari aircraft? Pack soft and light
Small safari planes fly to remote bush airstrips with short runways, so weight and size limits are strict, for safety. Here's what to pack for scheduled light-aircraft flights.
Recommended size for a 15 kg soft bag on a Cessna C208B (12 seats)
Standard allowance
On scheduled flights you can bring 15 kg (about 33 lb) per person, including your hand luggage. Soft-sided bags are mandatory because they fit the aircraft's hold.
Extra bags and charter flights
Excess baggage on scheduled flights only flies if space and weight allow, and it's charged at the current rate. It may need to follow on a later flight, so pre-book and pay for it to avoid disappointment at the airstrip. Private charters can be more flexible depending on the aircraft, passengers and route; tell us your needs when you book.
Assistive devices and children's items
Wheelchairs, canes, walkers, crutches and other assistive devices fly free for passengers with a disability and don't count towards the allowance. They need to be collapsible. Baby car seats and foldable prams are accepted. For sports or medical equipment, check with us when you book.
Paperwork, handled for you
The forms and permits that trip people up. Send us your details and we'll take care of the rest.
Kenya eTA and health insurance
We complete your eTA on the official portal, including Kenya's mandatory travel health insurance, so nothing is missed. The USD 44 insurance premium is paid on the portal.
Tanzania & Zanzibar insurance
Both now require government visitor insurance. You need one policy per trip, and we process the right one for where you land first.
SGR train tickets
Skip the queues. We book your SGR seats for a comfortable, affordable ride between Mombasa and Nairobi.
Flight reservation for visas
A verified flight reservation for your visa application, without buying the full ticket before approval.
Prices are our processing fees. Government fees and insurance premiums are paid separately.
